Musée des Sciences de la Terre - Exposition "Météorites, la chasse est ouverte"

Musée des Sciences de la Terre, Martigny

Escape the whirlwind of the pandemic for a moment and immerse yourself in the fascinating world of meteorites. This is what the exhibition "METEORITES, the hunt is on! ». Coming from the planet Mars, the Moon or the asteroid belt, these extraterrestrial rocks tell us about our origins and the history of our solar system. They are so valuable for science that we are no longer satisfied with collecting them on Earth and that several space missions aim to collect them directly from their parent bodies. This exhibition gives an insight into the fascinating nature of these rocky objects, presents some remarkable pieces from local private collectors or from museum institutions in neighbouring cantons and offers everyone, alone or with their family, the opportunity to learn how to recognise them.
