Choreographer, dance teacher

Nunzio Impellizzeri
was born in Acireale, Sicily, in 1980.
After attending his studies in visual art, costume and fashion design he continued developing his skills in ballet and contemporary dance. In 2000 he began his dance career in Sicily with Compagnia Zappalà Danza, directed by Roberto Zappalà. He danced for choreographers like Enrico C. Musmeci, Linda Magnifico, MDA production with Aurelio Gatti, etc. In 2004 he started his international collaborations: in Spain with the Compañía Metros Dansa by Ramon Oller. In Austria and Switzerland as a solist dancer for the choreographers Jacqueline Beck and Kinsun Chan. In Germany for the Ballett-Theater Augsburg and Stadttheater Kempten Allgäu directed by Jochen Heckmann. Besides the career as a dancer he developed his passion for choreography. He choreographed in Italy for the Theatre Company Gruppo Iarba, the Genius Loci and Studio Ferrera. In Switzerland he created for Cinevox Dance Company and the Zürich Tanz Theater Schule. In 2009 he collaborated as a Co-choreographer with Gisela Rocha Dance Company and choreographed for the dance platform 12Min.Max. at Tanzhaus Zurich, where he showed a first version of the piece “Just begin… aber pünktlich!”. 2010 he was artistic director and guest choreographer for Faa-zone Dance Company. In the same year he was one of the six internationally selected choreographers in SiWiC 2010 - (14 Swiss international Coaching Project Choreographers in Switzerland) directed by Reinhild Hoffmann. In 2011 he worked with Giorgio Madia for Staatstheater Cottbus in Germany. In April 2012 he won the choreographic competition Ballet-ex in Rome. In the same year he was guest choreographer at Teatro Olimpico Rome and presented “Alice in Wonderland” at Stadttheater Winterthur. In 2013 he obtained the choreographic price for the best dance Solo of the choreographic competition Ballet-ex in Rome. Nunzio directed and created for the SSZ_Junior Dance Company. He was selected as a choreographer for the project “ChoreoLab 2013 Zurich & Warsaw” directed by Tanzhaus Zurich in collaboration with Centrum W RUCHU Warsaw. Since 2014 he is the artistic director and founder of the Nunzio Impellizzeri Dance Company.
In addition to his activities as a choreographer Nunzio Impellizzeri leads dance workshops in several cities in Europe. He worked as a guest at Iwanson International School of Contemporary Dance Munich, Ballettschule Theater Basel, Centrum W Ruchu, Staatstheater Cottbus, Stadtheater St. Gallen, Faa-Zone Tanz Company, GiselaRochaDanceCompany, Tanzhaus Zürich, SSZ_Junior Company and Cinevox Junior Company.
Presently Nunzio Impellizzeri is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and works on several projects as a free-lance choreographer and teacher.
