Habsburg Castle (Schloss Habsburg)
Schloss Habsburg, Habsburg
Ancestral seat of a global dynasty
The Habsburgs’ rise to world power began at Habsburg Castle in the 11th century. Only the rear section of the former double castle still stands. The oldest parts of the castle complex have decayed over the centuries. This building and settlement history is chronicled in an exhibition in the rear castle. The self-guided “Habsburger Königsweg” tour retells the history of the Counts of Habsburg at various audio stations in and around the castle.
