The Museum für Gestaltung Zürich is the leading Swiss museum for design and visual communication. Its collection comprises over half a million objects from the history of graphics and design and is of international importance. The exhibitions deal with current and forward-looking themes from all areas of design that shape everyday visual life and show works by important design personalities. The museum sets new standards with innovative temporary exhibitions, multi-year collection presentations and internationally acclaimed touring exhibitions.
Through its wide-ranging educational activities, the museum sets the tone in the areas of design education, participatory exhibition practice, inclusion and cultural participation. As part of the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), the museum is actively involved in research and teaching and produces its own publications on a regular basis.
In its listed main building on Ausstellungsstrasse, a key work of Swiss modernist architecture, the Museum für Gestaltung Zürich presents the treasures of its collection as well as temporary exhibitions on various themes that shape our everyday visual lives. The spacious education studio offers a wide range of workshops, while the café and the Swiss Design Lounge invite visitors to enjoy, linger and experience.
