Ceresio Estate 2025

Lugano

Musical evenings - MADE IN Lugano

Can the Lugano region offer a high-quality musical experience for tourists, built entirely around its own musicians? The answer is yes: with young talents, established professionals, renowned teachers, and guests closely connected to the area, the musical scene in Lugano is more vibrant than ever.

From its very beginning, Ceresio Estate has given a voice to artists such as Luca Pianca, Diego Fasolis, and Fabio Di Càsola. Today, it continues to serve as a launching pad and a mirror of the musical excellence that is born, nurtured, and lives in Lugano.

Among the rising stars are Luca Marsiglia, a very young flutist from Lugano who won first prize at the prestigious Swiss Youth Music Competition, and Mattia Albisetti, a musician of rare sensitivity, who will perform a mandolin duet with Matteo Ingravalle in a concert prepared in Ugo Orlandi’s class at the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory in Milan.
Annika Rast, a flutist who has already appeared as a soloist with the Orchestra della Svizzera italiana, will perform in her home municipality alongside harpsichordist Xavier Durand.

Among the emerging guitarists are Mattia Fogato, winner of two important competitions; Stefano Moccetti, performing in a duo with Slovak violinist Anton Jablokov; and Lorenzo Reggiani in duo with Tiago Almeida, a Swiss-Portuguese guitarist born in Geneva.
Jasmine Gitti, a young harpist who collaborates with major orchestras such as the Arena di Verona, will perform with Alessandro Bennardo, a promising young flutist and Conservatory student. Among the violinists from Lugano: Amanda Nesa will perform with Donatella Gibboni, Maristella Patuzzi with violist Andreas Laake, and Barbara Krüger in a trio with cellists Claudio Giacomazzi and Ticino-native Mattia Zappa.
Local ensembles include the Lugano Percussion Ensemble, the Youth Orchestra of Italian Switzerland, and the Philharmonic Wind Orchestra ofCastagnola.

Among internationally renowned artists living in the Lugano area, we welcome soprano Serena Farnocchia and pianist Paolo Raffo, whose operatic careers have brought them to prestigious stages such as La Scala in Milan and other major theaters around the world.

Many former students of the Conservatory will also be featured: Franco Ascolese, a flutist from Campania with an international career; Emma Longo, principal flute of the Norrköping Symphony Orchestra, performing in duo with Valentina Vatteroni, principal harpist of the Bad Reichenhaller Philharmoniker; and Alessandra Aitini with her Trio Synchordia.

Also performing are Sardinian pianist Federico Battista Melis; Polish musicians Barbara Misiewicz (cello) and Klaudia Baca (double bass); and the founders of the filoBarocco ensemble – Francesco Facchini, Marco Baronchelli, and Carlo Maria Paulesu – joined by Dutch flutist Erik Bosgraaf.
The string quartet Alla Maniera Italiana, specialized in the Classical period, will present rare and original works on period instruments and with historically informed performance practices.

Among the internationally renowned professors of the Conservatorio della Svizzera italiana: Andrea Oliva with the SIXE Quartet, Marco Rizzi in duo with Roberto Arosio, and guitarists Gabriele Cavadini and Sergio Lavia together with singer Dilene Ferraz in unique, never-before-seen ensembles.

Theatre will also be featured, with Lugano-based actor Emanuele Santoro presenting a storytelling performance accompanied by live music.

The opening concert, in collaboration with RSI – Rete Due’s “Tra jazz e nuove musiche” program, will feature the trio of Polish pianist Leszek Kułakowski, launching a concert triptych linking Lugano to Poland.

Among the season’s highlights is a concert with the Philharmonic Orchestra of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, conducted by Michele Patuzzi and featuring renowned violinist Davide Alognaas soloist.

A total of 25 events – nearly double that of previous editions – will bring music to the most enchanting venues overlooking Lake Ceresio. Concerts will mainly take place on Thursday evenings and Sunday afternoons, offering unforgettable moments filled with music, beauty, and local identity.

A program that celebrates Lugano as a crossroads of musical excellence, capable of stirring emotion with every note and telling, through the talent of its artists, the soul of an extraordinary region.
