Nordic sounds - Zuger Klassik Abo #2

Theater Casino Zug, Zug

Izabelė Jankauskaitė (conductor) & Huijing Han (piano) with the Zug Sinfonietta.

In the second subscription concert of the season, experience a musical masterpiece that was created in a collaboration that is remarkable in terms of music history: Robert Schumann composed his only piano concerto together with his wife Clara, who premiered the work herself as a virtuoso pianist.

The brilliant solo part will be played by the outstanding Huijing Han, a Chinese pianist who was named a Steinway Artist in 2018. The program is framed by two works by Norwegian composers: Edward Grieg's "Norwegian Melodies", which enchant with touching simplicity, and Johan Svendsen's Second Symphony, which skilfully combines classical forms with folk melodies and incorporates Norway's rich musical heritage into this art music.

The young Lithuanian conductor Izabelė Jankauskaitė, who studied at the Zurich University of the Arts and worked as Paavo Järvi's assistant at the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich in the 23/24 season, leads the orchestra with fine musicality and precise intuition. Immerse yourself in a concert full of emotion, elegance and tonal beauty - a concert experience not to be missed.

With the "Zuger Klassik Abo", the Zuger Sinfonietta and the Theater Casino Zug | TMGZ bring exciting soloists and varied programs to Zug. After two successful seasons, the collaboration is now entering its third round. The orchestra invites you to travel to Great Britain and Norway and presents classics of orchestral literature. But you can also discover one or two modern works. In addition to chief conductor Daniel Huppert, two young, up-and-coming guest conductors will be on the podium for the concerts.
