Natural spectacle on the Eiger
On January 14, 2026, a unique natural phenomenon can be observed in Grindelwald: the Martinsloch on the Eiger.
Under favorable weather conditions, the sun will shine through a natural opening in the rock at the easternmost end of the Eiger (Ostegg) at midday, creating an impressive play of light.
This natural phenomenon can be experienced from selected locations and is accompanied by fascinating explanations of the Martinsloch and the legend surrounding it. A special experience for nature lovers and anyone who wants to experience the fascinating play of light in the Alps up close.
Drinks and snacks available on site. The event will take place in all weather conditions.
