History of the Marienkirche and a visit to the wrought-iron grave crosses in the cemetery.
Meeting point: Church square of St. Anthony's Church, Lantsch
The church is mentioned for the first time in the year 831. In the 12th century, it was complemented by a Romanesque tower. The late Gothic wing altar from 1479 is considered the second oldest in the canton of Graubünden. The paintings were created during the 14th century. The figure of Christopher on the west side is attributed to the circle of the Waltensburger masters. The church has been restored various times over the centuries, most recently in 1990.
Regarding the grave crosses of Lantsch, Pastor Joseph Willimann summarized the symbolic value of the wrought iron grave crosses. One can find grave crosses from various time periods, including Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque, up to modern times.
