Frundsberg castle (ruine)

Vischnaunca Ruschein, Ruschein

The minstrel Heinrich II von Frauenberg lived in this castle around 1300. His poems are contained in Codex Manesse. His lineage as the one of neighbouring Fryberg in Siat derives from the Lords of Sagogn.
On the crest and its southslope there are so called sacrificial bowls carved into bedrock along with carvings of astronomic significance, and possibly an altar and oracle, unless the latter represents the constellation Vega.
The forest cover is unique in Switzerland in that a type of oak stand adjacent to larches. The forest is under protection.
