Nature Trails in and Around Winterthur

Viticultural Nature Trail
Start: bei der Trotte, Weinbergstrasse (bus No. 2 Wülflingen to «Schloss»).
For those who prefer walking to wine-tasting, the Viticultural Nature Trail of the Landwirtschaftliche Schule Wülflingen (Wülflingen Agricultural College) will provide some interesting insights into wine-growing.

Töss Valley Water Nature Trail
Start: Kollbrunn railway station (S28 to Kollbrunn).
During the three-hour walk, educational and easy to understand informative signs tell you all sorts of interesting facts relating to the element of water; water as an energy provider, water as a habitat, water as a force of nature etc.

Eggwald Nature Trail in Wiesendangen
Start: above Wiesendangen swimming pool (bus No. 1 Oberwinterthur to «Bahnhof», Postbus 610 to Wiesendangen).
If you walk along the 1.8 km nature trail, you will learn many interesting details about the flora and fauna of the region. Enjoy the educational and informative signs, magnificent nature, glorious landscape and fresh air.
Industrial Cycle Trail
Start: Hegi Mill in Oberwinterthur (bus No. 10 to «Mühle Hegi»).
On the Industrial Cycle Trail you can pedal to your heart's content and at the same time trace Winterthur's industrial history in a very special way. The cycle trail leads across 20 stations - past historic mills with waterwheels, past the region's last waterwheel sawmill, past Switzerland's first mechanical factory and across the areas of heavy industry of Sulzer und Loki. At every station an informative sign provides insightful background information. A map with a description of the individual legs is available free of charge at Winterthur Tourismus.
Eschenberg Forest and Glacial Erratic Nature Trail
Start: Eschenberg (bus No. 4 to «Breite», 20-30 min. walk, March-October every Sa, Su bus No. 12).
The Bruderhaus on the Eschenberg offers two exciting nature trails to botanical and geological hobby explorers. The well signposted Forest Nature Trail conveys an overview of the local forest flora, whilst on the Glacial Erratic Nature Trail you can learn what the rocks from the ice have to tell us.
Bird Nature Trail
Start: Eschenberg (bus No. 4 to «Breite», 20-30 min. walk, March-October every Sa, Su bus No. 12)
The new bird nature trail along the wildlife park lets the hearts of passionate hobby ornothologists beat faster. Six secluded places invite you to watch the hustle and bustle of the delightful birds and follow their call. Display boards provide information on local bird species and the role of the forest as the most important habitat.
Nappy Hiking Trail“
Start: Eschenberg (bus No. 4 to «Breite», 20-30 min. walk, March-October every Sa, Su bus No. 12)
The adventure trail with a children's village, a maze and an obstacle course has been designed for small children. For just under a kilometre the trail leads through the Chrebsbach Ravine. A clearing with fireplaces invites you to rest or let off steam.
Kyburg Forest Nature Trail
Start: Sennhof (S28 to Sennhof).
Going on a journey of discovery in the forest and studying the local forest flora - this is what you can do on the Forest Nature Trail at Kyburg Castle. During the walk through the jungle-like mixed forest up to the » castle you can even discover species of plants, which are very rare in Switzerland today.
