Alpacas are primarily bred in the highlands of Peru for their very valuable, soft wool.

The soft, silky-glossy alpaca fiber is much warmer, finer, and has a lower fat content compared to sheep wool. Many complex processes are necessary to create a finished sweater or scarf.
