"Insect Extinction - All Will Be Well"
Naturhistorisches Museum der Burgergemeinde Bern, Bern
On November 2, 2023, the new special exhibition "Insect Extinction - All Will Be Well" opens at the Natural History Museum of Berne: Embark on a journey to the year 2053.
It is a silent but rapid death: Insects are disappearing. In just 30 years, almost three quarters of the biomass of flying insects has been lost. This is a huge problem for us humans - because insects not only play a major role in nature, but also in our diet. Is all now lost? Our special exhibition says: No! It is no coincidence that the special exhibition "Insect Extinction - All Will Be Well" has a provocatively optimistic subtitle. It is set in the year 2053 and shows how we can create a future in which the great catastrophe is averted. Instead of problems, it shows solutions, instead of raising the admonishing finger, it portrays inspiring people who are working on a better future - for us and for the insects.
