No one makes the short-necked oud resonate with softer melodious sighs than Tunisia's Anouar Brahem, a celebrity on stages around the world. Dialogue between cultures is a key priority for him, and he deliberately avoids exotic clichés. Here, the free spirit of improvisation, typical of modern jazz, meets the harmonies of the Western compositional tradition and the refined forms of Eastern cultures.
