Obersee Bilingual School delivers high-quality bilingual care and education for children aged 3 months through primary years. At each level - babycare, prekindergarten, kindergarten and primary school - the school is designed to meet the personal, social, emotional, physical and developmental needs of the children. Our team of certified and experienced teachers is dedicated to the values of bilingual education and whole-child educational methods. Making life easier for families, we provide before and after-school care, holiday care, bus service between locations, warm lunches and onsite after-school classes.

Obersee Bilingual School provides children with the social, cognitive and linguistic benefits of a bilingual education, while at the same time taking the needs of today's family into account. Our curriculum, a product of our partnership with Swiss International Schools and our teaching team's experience in early-childhood and primary education, combines the highest standards of international and Swiss schools with music, arts and sports, including dance, swimming and skiing. Obersee students have all options open to them: international, Swiss or bilingual secondary schools. Continuing on into the Swiss International School, graduates of Obersee's 6th grade will have the choice to study for the bilingual matura or International Baccalaureate (IB).

English in the workplace and in higher education

Within the German-speaking part of Switzerland, 50% of people working in academic institutions and top management positions use both English and German in their every day work. Many Masters as well as PhD degree programs are offered in English, but require knowledge of German.

Bilingual education–how it works
Bilingual education at the early ages is conducted with simultaneous presence of both English and German speaking teachers. At the kindergarten and primary levels, the language of instruction alternates by days or half-weeks. Teachers speak only their native language.
