Exuberant joy of playing (Mozart, Beethoven) characterises the two frame works of this programme. In between are Erik Satie's ironic sideswipes at the excessive seriousness, academicism and the virtuosoism of early 20th century Paris.

In addition, Cheryl Frances-Hoads Piano Quintet, which is a work of great emotional depth with powerful unisons, interwoven lyrical voices and harmonies that connect heaven and earth (in the style of Messiaen). ‘The Whole Earth Dances’ is inspired by the constant change in nature - the dance of the world - and also by the poems “Fern” and “Thistles” by Ted Hughes.
