Organ concert Burkhard Pflomm, Lindau

Burkhard Pflomm plays works by Elgar, Frescobaldi, Langlais, Hollins and Bach

Burkhard Pflomm, who works as a cantor on the island of Lindau on Lake Constance, brings us a colorful and varied program.

He also has English music in his luggage. He begins his concert with the first movement Allegro maestoso from Edward Elgar's organ sonata. This is followed by a detour to Italy to one of the most important Baroque composers, Girolamo Frescobaldi. It will be exciting to hear how the Bergamasca from the Fiori Musicali sounds on the romantic Kuhn organ in St. Johann. The three-part Pièce d'orgue by Johann Sebastian Bach takes center stage.
A weighty work that has its models in French baroque music. However, Bach is not merely copying a style, but as always creates his very own product. The Hommage à Frescobaldi by the blind French organist Jean Langlais is a tribute to France, but with a look back to Italy. And to close the bracket, we end up back in England with Alfred Hollins. He composed the Bénédiction nuptiale for a wedding, for which he then used the initials of the bride and groom - H.E.B. - as the main motif.

The Concert Ouverture in C minor forms the pompous and powerful conclusion to the autumn series.
