Evening of astronomy: shooting star night of the Orionids

By means of clear explanations, participants learn about the impressive properties of the solar system and the universe. Professionals from the Astroevents association explain the astronomical concepts with the help of easy-to-understand models. In the practical part, interesting information is provided about the constellations, while the stars and planets can be observed through several professional telescopes.

Topic on October 21, 2025: Orionids shooting star night
On this night, the Orionids stream of shooting stars reaches its maximum, which originates from the well-known comet Halley. The striking gas giant Saturn is also visible in the night sky that evening. Star clusters, gas nebulae and distant galaxies will also be in view. The evening will be rounded off with a tour and explanations of the autumn constellations.

At the event you will also have the opportunity to take an unforgettable look through the Gurten Observatory

Program:
6 p.m., welcome and aperitif
approx. 6.45 p.m.–8.00 p.m., interactive information on astronomy
approx. 8.00 p.m.–9.30 p.m., starter, main course and dessert buffet
approx. 9.30 p.m.–11.00 p.m., stargazing through professional telescopes
11.45 p.m., last departure of the Gurten funicular

We recommend the astronomy evening for anyone over the age of 12.

The events take place in all weathers. Prices exclude Gurten funicular (GA/Libero/Half Fare/Bern Ticket valid).

The astronomy evenings are organized in cooperation with Astro Events and are held in German.
